Sixty years ago, Ridgewood Moving began with a simple promise: treat every move with care and exceed expectations. What started as a local moving company has grown into a trusted name built on relationships, reliability, and a deep connection to the communities we serve. As we celebrate our 60th anniversary, we’re reflecting on what this milestone truly means—to us, to our customers, to our referral partners, and to our community.
Reaching 60 years in business is more than a number, it’s a testament to the people behind the work. Generations of team members, Leadership and 48,000 moves. Our story is deeply personal and is shaped by three chapters of leadership, each grounded in the same values of integrity, care and commitment.
Ridgewood Moving, established in 1966, Chapter One started out of a small office at an Elks Club in Ridgewood, NJ providing local and long-distance moves for the next 20 years. Ridgewood Moving was founded as a trusted local mover treating our customers with respect during life’s biggest transitions. That belief set the foundation for everything that followed.
The Second Chapter was led by Robert Myer, my husband, who grew the business with heart and vision and moved the company to a warehouse in Ramsey, where they could provide storage for their residential and commercial customers. Robert had an unwavering focus on relationships and believed that a moving company could be both highly professional and deeply personal. He strengthened the reputation while building a solid foundation for the next chapter.
The Third Chapter began under circumstances I never expected. When Robert passed away in 2005, I made the decision to step in and move the business forward. Leading Ridgewood Moving has been both an honor and a responsibility I take to heart every day. I am tremendously proud of our team and the pride that each and everyone feels that works here. We Are Ridgewood Moving; We care about our customers, our company, our community and each other.
While today we celebrate the past 60 years, our eyes are firmly on the future. We’re excited to continue evolving, embracing innovation and technology while upholding the standards that have defined Ridgewood Moving for generations.
