Ridgewood Moving Services was established in 1966 in Ridgewood, NJ. The business began in a small office at the Elks Club in Ridgewood, providing local moves within the Bergen County area. In 1987, Robert Myer purchased the company under RA Myer Corporation, doing business as Ridgewood Moving Services, and relocated the business to a facility in Ramsey. This move enabled RMS to offer storage and warehousing services. After several years, the company moved to a larger space in Upper Saddle River.

The company grew and developed a strong reputation under Robert’s leadership until his untimely death in 2005. At that point, Cindy Myer transitioned from a silent partner and stay-at-home mom to CEO. Cindy relied on RMS employees, friends, and family for support. She also credits her colleagues in the moving industry, as well as local community business alliances, for their guidance.

Within a few short years, Cindy revitalized the company and set it on a path of sustained growth and profitability. She improved and formalized company policies and procedures, expanded services, invested in staff development and training programs, and enhanced technology. As a certified woman-owned business, Cindy also established a strategic partnership as an interstate agent for Bekins Van Lines, providing long-distance moving services.
