It has been 128 days since our world turned upside down. March 13, 2020 is when I first had our Ridgewood Moving team meeting regarding Covid-19. We prepared for the worst, but hope (and still hoping) for the best.
The quick action and input from my team made us very prepared, in my opinion. As I have communicated in previous notes, we pivoted to a virtual/remote moving company with grace and efficiency. We were very transparent when working with customers through the trials and tribulations of virtual reality. I am grateful and proud of my team as well as the customers that have been so wonderful and supportive to work with.
As we watch other businesses try to navigate and reopen, we understand the pain and stress they are dealing with in bringing their employees back to a new working environment. I can also appreciate the anxiety that opening the offices puts on the staff. I would like to share a note that is going out to my team. There is no one I learn more from than those who work beside me every day at Ridgewood Moving Services.
Undoubtably, we are experiencing very challenging times in our personal and business lives these days. How quickly our routines have changed within the last month. At Ridgewood Moving we have had to, like many, adapt to a new environment where some of our team is working remotely. Within a couple of weeks, our paperwork has become cloud based, electronic signatures implemented, our processes have been updated and our household surveys have become virtual. Like so many businesses, we were not set up prior to March 13th for this way of conducting business, but it’s working. Our team has stepped up, rose to the occasion and exceeded my expectations!!! I am very proud and grateful.
There is no such thing as over communicating. Since the outbreak of this pandemic, we have made a point to be very transparent in our health and safety measures to our own team, and of course anyone that we come in contact each day. We have prepared many in house postings and have on going meetings as well as checking that everyone is well. We are doing the same with our customers and have prepared a health questionnaire for both the team and customers. Our messaging is simply to insure everyone that we are taking all the necessary precautions while moving people’s lives.
Our Operations Manager Dennise (also known as Norma Rae) goes to our office and warehouse facility every day. She meets up with the crew in her mask and gloves and dispatches them for the days move. The crews have had positive attitudes and have taken our safety measures very seriously. Our Super Stars have been very mindful of our own Ridgewood Moving environment as well as our customers. They are prepared with their “survival” tools for a new day of moving our valued customers. Our dedicated frontline moving professionals have a renewed sense of pride knowing what they are doing is essential for the economy now and in the future. Also, I must mention that they have not lost their sense of humor and continue to wow our customers every day…sending us lots of pictures, as you can see below. This team of extraordinary gentleman fill my heart.
Our customers………they have been amazing. There is a new sense of community and togetherness. We all seem to be kinder with a greater appreciation for one another. For after all, we’re all going through this crisis together. Our follow up calls have been so positive with an overall sense of gratitude that seems to be even elevated from our previous raving fans. We are thankful for the 54 years of doing business within this community and appreciate the fact that most of our business comes from returning customers and warm referrals. We will continue to operate with the highest company standards, as we always do, for our customers, community and employees.
Be Well, Be Safe and Be Sane…………
