This year, Ridgewood Moving Services (Ridgewood Moving) is celebrating 50 years of being in business. That’s 50 years of moving clients all across New Jersey and making one of the most stressful life events easier than ever! We’re only getting better and better as time goes on thanks to the amazing work of our CEO, Cindy Myer.
In 1966, Ridgewood Moving Services started its small, humble beginnings as a moving company. The company was created by Ken Hawkings at an Elks Club office and it only had two trucks, but the hard working movers helped the company gain a solid reputation in the local community.

One of those movers was Robert Myer, who worked for the company since the 70s. He had strong ambitions to make the company bigger and better than ever, which led him to buy the company from Ken in 1987. Robert’s vision for the Ridgewood Moving Services helped expand the company by increasing the number of trucks, hiring a bigger workforce, and purchasing a warehouse for storage.
Since 2005, Cindy Myer has taken over the business in place of her husband and has helped establish Ridgewood Moving Services as the best moving company in New Jersey. Because of her efforts, the company was named Mover of the Year by NJWMA in 2013. She’s also received recognition for her work and was named one of the 2014 NJ Biz Best Fifty Women in Business, Top 25 Leading Women Entrepreneurs, and the 2014 Mahwah Regional Chamber Citizen of the Year.
This is only the beginning too! We have a long history of success, but we’ll continue to improve and strive to be the best moving company we can be.
