One of the most important parts of Ridgewood Moving Services (Ridgewood Movers) is the nonprofit organizations that we support. That’s why we make sure that our raving fans know about upcoming events from these kinds of organizations. This week, I’d like to highlight a special event from Center for Hope and Safety (formerly Shelter Our Sisters).

Center for Hope and Safety

The event they are holding is called “Church of the Atonement Documentary Showing and Discussion.” At the Church of the Atonement, the Center for Hope and Safety will be holding a discussion led by Patrice Lenowitz, a survivor of domestic violence. Read the description below, pulled from the Center for Hope and Safety’s website, for more details about the event.

On Thursday, January 15th at 7:30 p.m. Patrice Lenowitz, Community Educator at the Center for Hope and Safety (formerly Shelter Our Sisters), will discuss the harsh impact that domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual assault have on our greater community — and how these can be prevented. The discussion will take place at Church of the Atonement located at 97 Highwood Avenue in Tenafly. A portion of the award-winning human trafficking documentary film, “Very Young Girls,” will also be shown.

Lenowitz is a domestic violence survivor and a victims’ rights advocate and activist. In addition to public speaking at various religious congregations, colleges and high schools, local businesses and families identified at risk, and various civic and service groups, she is the founder and co-facilitator of the Nurtured Parent Support Group for Survivors of Domestic Abuse, and co-founder with actress Kelly Rutherford of the Children’s Justice Campaign.

If you’re interested in attending, please visit the Center for Hope and Safety’s website for more details. The more people that show up, the better! The group discussion will be best with a room full of people, so we hope that you attend! If you plan on showing up, please let us know in the comments below.
